The Sir Ernest Shackleton is the first watch in Kobold’s Old Explorers Collection.  In keeping with Kobold’s heritage of making watches designed for polar expeditions, the Sir Ernest Shackleton pays tribute to the legendary explorers of Antarctica.  It is a true masterpiece of watch-making and is limited to only 50 watches.

A hand-wound, Swiss-made movement, caliber K.348 (modified Unitas 6497) powers the Sir Ernest and is a technological marvel.  The movement has been re-engineered to display a large center second hand and features traditional decorations, such as Geneva stripes on the bridges and an engine-turned surface.  A sapphire crystal, exhibition back is threaded and securely screwed into the case, allowing the wearer to admire the handsomely decorated movement Horological delights include the uniquely shaped hands, made from blued stainless steel and the retro-style dial, covered by five layers of paint to ensure durability.  The attention to detail is emblematic of how exquisite this timepiece truly is.

This limited edition watch comes on a full-cut, genuine Louisiana alligator strap, which has been hand-stitched by German artisans.  A signed, stainless steel buckle is securely fastened to the strap through a patented screw-locked system.  The watch is accompanied by a large, wooden collector’s box with space for one additional watch and a hidden compartment for accessories, such as a spare strap.
