When Kobold was founded in 1998, it wasn't long before the legendary British explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes became the company's brand ambassador-in-chief. With the help of Sir Ranulph, Kobold presented -in 2003- the world's first mechanical wristwatch featuring a combination of functions deemed critical by leading polar explorers. The Polar Surveyor Chronograph put Kobold on the proverbial map of expedition watch manufacturers. In commemoration of the company's strong polar heritage and in observation of its ten-year-long relationship with Ranulph Fiennes, Kobold is launching the Arctic Diver Heritage Edition.

With a 45 mm-wide case, fashioned from surgical-grade stainless steel, the Arctic Diver Heritage Edition is among the largest Kobold watches. Produced entirely in the United States, the case of the Arctic Diver Heritage Edition sits prominently on its wearer's wrist, with a thickness of 16 mm. Its uni-directional rotating bezel is engraved with a minute scale and its crown, caseback, and lug bars are screw-locked. A large, domed and extra-thick sapphire crystal protects the minimalist dial, with its luminous hour markers and brass hands.

The Arctic Diver Heritage Edition is powered by a manufacture movement, caliber K.2651. This in-house movement is based on a vintage new-old-stock German-made movement dating back to the 1960s which has been updated extensively with U.S.-made components. Like all Kobold watches that consist mainly of U.S.-made components, the Arctic Diver Heritage Edition is covered by a 5-year warranty against material defects and faulty craftsmanship. The watch comes on a natural rubber strap with signed and screw-locked buckle.
