British explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes, described by the Guinness Book of Records as "the world's greatest living explorer," was the first person to circumnavigate the globe via its polar axis during his Transglobe Expedition. Sir Ranulph has led more than thirty expeditions to places as cold as Antarctica and as hot as the desert of Arabia, where he discovered the lost city of Ubar, called the “Atlantis of the Sands.” Sir Ranulph was also the leader of the Pentland South Pole Expedition, which achieved the first unsupported crossing of the Antarctic continent and was the longest unsupported polar journey in history.

Formerly a member of Britain’s revered SAS commando, Sir Ranulph Fiennes was seconded to the forces of the Sultan of Oman, where he was credited with putting a stop to the advancement of Communist rebel forces. Sir Ranulph has also published 14 books, including several #1 bestsellers. His book The Feather Men is currently being produced into a film in Hollywood. Fiennes' family name is already well-known in Hollywood. His cousins, Joseph Fiennes and Ralph Fiennes, have starred in motion picture hits such as The English Patient and Shakespeare in Love.

On 2 November 2003, Sir Ranulph and Dr. Mike Stroud completed perhaps the biggest challenge of all. Both men ran seven marathons in seven consecutive days on seven continents as part of the Land Rover 7x7x7 Marathon Challenge, becoming the first humans to do so. Sir Ranulph successfully completed this phenomenal feat despite suffering from a massive heart attack and undergoing a double by-pass operation just four months prior to the start of the week-long ordeal.

A man as tough as Sir Ranulph needs a tough watch - one that can endure the most punishing environments and climates. His Polar Surveyour and Phantom Tactical chronographs accompany him on his quests to the edges of the world.
